“Everything possible must be done to rid the Church of the scourge of the sexual abuse of minors and to open pathways of reconciliation and healing for those who were abused.” Pope Francis

“On behalf of the Church, I apologize for the grave offenses committed against the vulnerable by those who were ordained to serve our communities. We are grateful to survivors who have come forward already and encourage those who have not yet come forward to do so.” Bishop John LeVoir

The sexual abuse of minors by priests is a tragedy that has shattered lives locally and around the world.

The Diocese of New Ulm is committed to preventing abuse, immediately reporting any allegations of abuse in Church ministry to law enforcement, and helping victims and survivors in their journey toward healing.

Bishop LeVoir, clergy, diocesan staff and others in Church ministry will continue to work with victims and survivors, representatives of those harmed by sexual abuse and with our broader community to protect children and young people and promote healing.
