Hope for Healing: Working Toward a Fair Resolution

The Diocese and those representing victims and survivors continue to work together to come to a fair resolution of claims that allows the work of the Church to continue in our communities.

As of May 25, 2016, the date the three-year open window for making civil claims for historical cases of child sexual abuse closed, 101 claims had been filed against the Diocese and some parishes within the Diocese.

Past abuse of the young and the vulnerable within the Church must be acknowledged, victims and survivors must be treated with dignity and compensation is owed them as part of the healing process.

The Diocese apologizes to victims and survivors of sexual abuse and is committed to helping in healing and protecting children and young people from abuse. Bishop LeVoir meets individually with victims and survivors as part of the healing process to acknowledge their suffering and apologize on behalf of the Church.
